Nordlys

Standard

Hello there,

Long time no see! 😉 I have been MIA for a while. But here I am. Today I present to you my favorite green lady from Norway. The magical Northern lights. She paid me a visit last night at the cabin in Lyfjord and gave an awesome dance show. It was a bit cold to stand there, witness her performance and take pictures.  But it was worth it.  😍

So, here are some pictures of aurora borealis I managed to take with my cell phone camera. This is one of the primary reasons why you should visit Northern Norway.

With love from Norway!

Weekend at Lyfjord

Standard

We went to Lyfjord after two months. If you have been reading my blog, then you know how much I love this place.  It was a delightful break from the stressful studies and work life.

The house where we stay, stands by the sea and is further away from all the other houses in Lyfjord center. The nearest neighboring house is 5 mins walk away. There is a barn, an outside toilet,  a boathouse and a storage room along with a two story main house. It’s an old Norwegian house so, there is no running water in the tap. However, the most fun part of living here is to fetch water from the nearby river.

Thankfully, there is an electric stovetop/oven and firewood oven to make food. Heating system works fine in the ground floor rooms. There is also an old TV with national channel NRK that we love to watch. I personally love listening to the old radio in the kitchen. Since there is no bathrooms in the house, we don’t shower when we are there.  That’s the typical Norwegian cabin life: outside toilet and no shower.  😉

Nevertheless, I find living in Lyfjord very calming and rejuvenating. On this trip, I realized how much I actually enjoy baking. We baked ginger cookies and bollers.

And the bonus point,  of course was the amazing dance by my favorite green lady. The whole sky was lighted up by powerful green aurora.

It snowed so much last night.  We were gonna take the bus and it was a hell of a walk to the bus stop through the snow. We are now back to our student housing but I am already missing Lyfjord and the stress free life there.

North Norwegian Escape

Standard

Last week we were lucky to have beautiful sunny days. It gave me lots of energy to wake up early and go out for a lunch at my new hangout ‘Dragøy’ in Kysten Hus. The place has amazing view and you also have a chance to meet and talk to some interesting people.

I also went for a walk around the city and took some pictures.  Just have a look!

If you have not visited this amazing Norwegian city also known as the Paris of the North, then you should.  Plan your trip, trust me you won’t be disappointed. 😊

Countdown to the brighter notes

3 more days and the sun comes back. We’re blessed with the view like this lately.

Oh! Isn’t it exciting?  It’s been two months since I have seen the sun and I am going crazy now. Hahaha! That was an exaggeration because this year it hasn’t been that difficult.  I have enjoyed the polar nights. It’s been very cozy.
It’s been snowing so much today. But Tromsø looks very beautiful with it’s white veil.  Tromsø cathedral (Tromsø domkirke)  looked particularly spectacular with the snow on light projection.

Going down south soon.  Will post more pictures!

Project Happiness 365: Day 361

Standard

I realized today that I have stopped stressing out over things. I don’t claim that I am easy going and chill but something changed. I don’t overthink about little stuffs that used to bother me a lot before for example,  replaying past mistakes and feeling guilty. I am just a human and I have done things that I am not proud of, I just accept them as a part of life lessons. If it wasn’t for those mistakes, I would never be this person here now.

Loving and accepting yourself sounds overrated but it is the most important favour you can  do to yourself and others. It took me so many years to realise and understand this simple fact. But at least I realized,  that is important!

Meanwhile, it’s quite dark and cold here in Tromsø and I long for a sunny day like this.

Project Happiness 365: Day 344

Standard

So, the polar night has officially begun. No sun until next year. That sounded so pessimistic.  Actually here in Tromsø, next six weeks we live without the warmth of sun. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to the sun this year because I have not gone out and been lazying around at home.

I am not a big fan of darkness but still there’s something to this bluish dark period when sun never comes above the horizon and nights seem to last forever.

The only thing that keeps me going is trying to make everything cozy. Candles, music, hot chocolate with whipped cream on top, aromatic essential oil, pancakes in the middle of night, hot showers and cuddle with your loved ones under the blanket.  Koselig is the word.

But still I can’t help but wish I could hibernate. 😴😴😴

This.  😊

Thanks to all of you for discovering my floating universe and showing so much love. This is an anonymous blog, so, I don’t publicise this anywhere in social media. But despite this, 1000 likes means a lot for me. I don’t think about likes that much when I post. It’s mainly just to express what I am feel. However, I feel very happy when you guys drop by and write kind words. I am grateful to all of you for joining me in this journey.😊

We have been playing so much of the Witcher 3 lately. I enjoy the graphic part of the game a lot. It’s an aesthetic game.

After killing some monsters, beasts and enemies when Geralt of Rivia looks at a view like this, feels heavenly satisfying.

And then my horse Roach pulls stunts like this, we burst into laughter.

I went out for a bit today. I can’t actually describe in words how beautiful Tromsø looks these days.

This city of boats and Northern lights never fails to amaze me.

I am so fascinated with trees and lights.

Signs of winter is all over places now. Soon Tromsø will turn into white beauty.
